Would you be more inclined to go to church if services came with a Big Mac and a side of fries? That's the idea behind McMass, a group whose goal is to put a McDonald's franchise in a church.
The group, led by Paul Di Lucca, a creative director at the church branding agency Lux Dei design, has launched a page on the IndieGoGo crowdfunding site. He's looking to raise $1 million to build the first McDonald's church.

The $1 million will go toward purchasing a franchise and construction. The group is currently looking for a church to partner with.
"It's time for churches to engage with entrepreneurship," writes the group. "By combining a church and a McDonald's we can create a self-sustaining, community-engaged, popular church, and an unparalleled McDonald's restaurant."

(146,218 posts)McDonalds requires that someone have $750,000 non-borrowed funds to open a franchise.
The company behind this, though, seems fairly legitimate. They focus on bringing technology to churches. Their primary point are in web presence and social spread.
But McDonalds? Seriously?

(7,886 posts)And this sounds like a mock church, only they are trying to be serious. Though not many people seem to be buying into it.

(146,218 posts)They haven't actually picked the church yet, but want anyone interested to contact them. You are correct. Their response rate is tragically low. Why would someone contribute to this?
Anyway, here is a link to their site:

(146,218 posts)When I am in the US, i secretly go up to 3 times a week. I'm particularly fond of the dollar menu and the sweet tea.
However, I don't see how a McDonald's could lure anyone into church, unless, of course, it were free. This seems like a poorly thought out marketing concept.

(33,568 posts)Next time. It's not full of chemicals and they don't treat their employees like crap the way McD does.

(146,218 posts)Plus one of the things I like about McD's is the small portions that you can get.
But you are right in general.

(33,568 posts)I don't think about drive thrus. In California I would go with IN and OUT or Fatburger any day.
Even if it's an occasional guilty pleasure as far as "bad for you" goes, you might want to think about it as the greater good would be not giving your business to them.
For me it's like not saving a few cents on whatever crap Wallmart sells.
Just giving you my POV.
