Theists agree with Fox News Bill O'Reilly and Franklin Graham on Pam Geller.

The debate continues to rage over whether an anti-Muslim group was justified in insulting every Muslim on the planet. As you may know two jihadis were killed by a brave police officer in Garland, Texas on Sunday after they tried to storm a conference held by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The dead men deserved what they got.

But the incident was ignited by a contest featuring cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. Any depiction of that Islamic icon is a sin in the Muslim world. Many Americans believe the provocation was legitimate under freedom of speech, but that is not the issue. No one I know favors curtailing speech in this case.

The real issue is whether the exposition was the right thing to do.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REV. FRANKLIN GRAHAM, SAMARITANS' PURSE: First of all, you know, as a Christian I don't like it when people mock my lord and savior Jesus Christ. And what this event in Garland was doing was mocking the Muslims. I'm discouraged that people would do this. We live in a society now where there is no civility, there is no respect. We don't honor people who have differences, we only attack each other.

And so I agree that the folks in Garland, Texas were wrong.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY: Reverend Graham reflects the Christian point of view that you don't demean other people unnecessarily. Jesus would not have sponsored that event. Now, I have to say my respect for Franklin Graham is growing. I wish the Catholic Church in America had a leader like him.

1. Pamela Geller is constantly looking for media coverage.

By her standards, incitement that led to violence is always the right thing to do. Similar to Sarah Palin's web site having crosshairs superimposed over Congressional Districts, with wording about "taking aim" at certain Congresspeople. One such District was Gabby Gifford's district. We all know what happened there. Palin claimed to be shocked that anyone would interpret her web site as inciting to violence.

Geller is constantly inciting people, hoping, I believe, for a violent reaction that will "prove" her point. She is a professional "Muslim hater" who makes a good living by so doing.

Franklin Graham: Racism, misogyny, homophobia are ‘biblical truths we stand for’
January 2, 2014 by Fred Clark

Franklin Phineas Hophni Graham isn’t yet done destroying his father’s legacy. The would-be heir to Billy Graham’s white evangelical dynasty decided yesterday to chide American Christians for not being loud enough in support of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson.

The problem with American Christianity, according to Franklin Graham, is that it’s not sufficiently homophobic, misogynist and racist:

I have been amazed at how many churches have apparently “ducked” out on the issue (sin). Some were even quick to condemn Phil Robertson.

If we Christians banded together and took a stand, perhaps we wouldn’t be losing so much ground in what the media is calling the “cultural war.” However, it is not a cultural war — it is a religious war against Christians and the biblical truths we stand for. Some churches have fallen into the trap of being politically correct, under the disguise of tolerance.

God is not “politically correct,” and He is certainly not tolerant of sin.

...

So, OK then. Phil Robertson is a creepy old man who preaches white supremacist myths defending segregation, preaches Bartonian lies endorsing sectarian government, endorses child marriage as a way of disallowing independent adulthood to women, refers to his own wife as “a vagina,” equates being gay with bestiality and terrorism, and says that all Muslims and “Shintos” are “under control of the Evil One.”

And Franklin Graham says it’s wrong for Christians to condemn those views. Instead, Graham says, it is our Christian duty to rally around those views because these are “the biblical truths we stand for.”

And millions of white evangelicals say “amen.” Christ have mercy.

Unlike Graham, Robertson and the pope, Geller made the mistake of not calling her brand of bigotry "religion".

If she had millions more would be standing up for her right to spew hate speech.

(the situation in general, not this specific article necessarily)

It is quite possible to defend someone's rights while you despise their actions.

That being said, hate speech is illegal in Canada, and we haven't self destructed into a slippery slope of government control.

Who cares about turning the other cheek when religion is mocked?

Death to cartoonists.

who has found a great way to get lots of coverage and have her face in front of the world. As long as they continue to give her all this press, she will continue to spew hate. I see now that she has hired body guards and goes no place without protection, and she intends to have another event. The only thing she will do differently next time----wear a protective vest. Good luck to her, and I would cry no tears for her.
