JUDY WOODRUFF: The two presumptive nominees for president were in Washington today, each speaking to a friendly crowd and trying out attack lines aimed at the other.
Political director Lisa Desjardins reports.
LISA DESJARDINS: It was an effort to reassure the religious right, Donald Trump speaking to an evangelical Christian audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalitions conference in Washington.
DONALD TRUMP (R), Presumptive Presidential Nominee: We want to uphold the sanctity and dignity of life.
(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)
DONALD TRUMP: Religious freedom, the right for people of faith to freely practice their faith, so important.

(101,271 posts)that he wants to stop any Muslim from entering the USA? Any rookie reporter could have at least have said it was "a change in policy", even if they don't want to put it as "lying" or "hypocrisy" or a "contradiction" . It's amazing the PBS has a 'political director' that negligent. She might as well have said nothing, and just played the recording of Trump, allowing him to spin any way he wants.

(12,564 posts)Try to practice any other belief (e.g., a Muslim prayer to start a Texas high school football game) and see how far the claim of "religious freedom" gets you.

(4,514 posts)idea of religious freedom is being able to choose which denomination of Christian church to attend. Many of them more than likely refused to vote for Romney because he was not a "Christian" in many eyes.
