Atheist's 2017 resolution - Lose the anger

By James Kirk Wall, Thursday at 7:21 pm

Just because there are people who claim to faithfully follow a book that calls for you to be murdered and tortured forever is no reason to be angry. Well, it is, but consider this.

There are fanatics in religion, and there are casual observers. Many choose to ignore the uncomfortable parts of their scripture while faithfully promoting secularism, humanism, and science just as vigorously as anybody else. Treating all religious people the same whether they are extremists, or very liberal in their interpretation, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Recognize that childhood indoctrination has the power to implant stones in the mind that will never be completely broken down.

A society of religious people needs good arms and good laws to be civilized. A society of non-religious people needs good arms and good laws to be civilized.

The greatest speech on the separation of church and state ever made wasn’t by an atheist. It was made by a Catholic named John F. Kennedy. This former President also had no problem accepting evolution as fact and was an amazing advocate of advancements in science and technology.
