South Dakota passes anti-gay bill, allowing government-funded adoption agencies the right to turn away LGBTI people.

The bill allows religious beliefs to be a factor when processing adoption claims for LGBTI people.

Senate Bill 149 passed by a vote of 43-20-7 in the House and 22-12 in the Senate on Thursday (2 March).

The bill would prohibit the state from actively taking adverse action against child placement agencies for discriminatory behavior.

means that this was a bipartisan vote to allow discrimination. Think about that fact.

How many children will, possibly ultimately, be enslaved by lunatic fundies? How many will never find forever families? How many trans and gender non specific Children will possibly be abused in the name of religion while childless loving adults, living in South Dakota (who may understand them better than anyone) are forbidden to give them loving homes?

What if the only person in your world, your close blood related family member, who happens to be gay or even bisexual maybe, is there to adopt you, been there for you your entire life, but Now can't give you a loving, stable home? What is going to happen?

Love is love and family is the basis for all civilized society. This bill masquerades as benevolent. It is just another nefarious scheme to steal public money. Daugaard needs to do the right thing and veto this !

This is not only demonization, it is child abuse and certainly won't lead to us enlightenment.

Thanks for this post, rug. ♡ lmsp
