Catholics should rediscover conservative roots

http://www.daily-journal.com/opinion/letters/catholics-should-rediscover-conservative-roots/article_c7a8f36e-a0d6-50ea-b6e0-0ff52dd14ade.html

Recently, several Catholic parishes were forced to close their doors because of the ongoing shortage of Catholic priests in the Diocese of Joliet.

...
And guess what? They have more seminarians than ever before. Look at any conservative diocese or religious order, and you will see the same results. How many more parishes will be forced to close before the diocese realizes that a more liberal approach to Catholic worship does not inspire men?

Perhaps our forefathers were onto something with the use of Latin and the smells and bells of the Catholic Mass that most Catholics today have forgotten and never were meant to be forgotten per Sacrosanctum Concilium, the Second Vatican Council document on Catholic worship. If you disobey the Council, do you really think you'll have increased vocations?

Keep thinking you're not conservative enough. The bigoted Catholics will stay, the tolerant ones will leave.

I just hope there are enough tolerant Catholics willing to do so.
