Leading a godless life might lead you to Hell, Pope warns in Fatima

Inés San Martín May 13, 2017 VATICAN CORRESPONDENT

FATIMA, Portugal - Speaking at the famed shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th anniversary of the apparitions that took place here a century ago, featuring secrets and revelations from Mary, Pope Francis warned hundreds of thousands of faithful not to live a life that profanes God, because doing so leads to Hell.

“Our Lady foretold, and warned us about, a way of life that is godless and indeed profanes God in his creatures,” Francis said. “Such a life - frequently proposed and imposed - risks leading to Hell.”

His words came during the homily of the Mass he celebrated on Saturday, celebrating the anniversary of the first of six apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary to three young illiterate shepherds in Portugal.

During the Mass, which took place during the second and final day of his visit to Portugal, the pontiff declared siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto, the youngest of the three seers, as saints.

and all I find on the other side is a mean old man on a cloud wagging his index finger at me for every real or imagined shortcoming I've ever had, I will be severely disappointed in the state of the universe. The pope's hell would be an anticlimax.

But a life with god in it can lead one to molest children, commit adultery, lie, cheat and steal!!

are too busy trying to make their way through their day to day life and are decent enough people, no matter what deity they do or do not believe in. They are not extremist or political.

It is also true that no matter your beliefs you can be a miserable human being who is a user and exploiter of their fellow man.

Pope Frank should probably be more expansive on his definition of Godless, particularly if he thinks that this means, you have to believe what Pope Frank believes.

declared the delusional shepherd children as saints thereby bestowing special powers upon their remaining relics that the faithful can pray to, weep over and credit for "cure", "relief" or "success"!

It's all so practical, logical and sensible!

That I don't give him the benefit of the doubt when he says "better to be an atheist than a bad Christian" or whatever it was exactly. We know his views, why do we have to have a whole discussion every time he says something new?

That god we don't believe in is going to send us to his personal torture chamber which we also, um, don't believe in.
