Related: About this forumGood news: Church to celebrate life of Catholic priest who found peace as a transgender woman
From the article:
On Sunday, Wedgewood Church in Charlotte will celebrate Nancy Ledins, a congregant who began life in 1932 as William Griglak, became a Roman Catholic priest in 1959 and underwent a sex-change operation in 1979.....
And in the last five years of her life, Ledins found new purpose as an active member at Wedgewood, a Charlotte church of about 60 worshipers half of whom are gay, lesbian or transgender that is affiliated with the American Baptists Churches USA and the United Church of Christ.

The Catholic Church does not recognize Nancy Ledins as a person at all. The RCC recognizes William Griglak; a male.
There is no good news here, the RCC has not budged one inch on this issue, and will not acknowledge claims that there has ever been a female Priest within the RCC in any capacity.
The RCC is obsolete, bigoted, and inhumane on this issue. Your headline misleadingly lends them credit as progress where none is deserved.

(42,641 posts)Given that I have posted numerous articles with the good news or bad news lead in, it should be obvious to the regulars here what I am doing. And given that you are one of the regulars here, there is no need for a lengthy explanation about this.
If you wish to argue about the headline of the original article, I suggest that you send a strongly worded letter to the paper in question outlining your objections.
And for the record, given that I did not write or title the original article, where did I personally credit the RCC for anything?

(33,982 posts)I *ALWAYS* edit the headline here for honest accuracy.
If you read your headline you have misleading facts. If you read the headline and the entire article, you have incomplete facts.
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)The Church in question in the headline was identified specifically. If anyone here only reads the headline and responds based on that limited reading, they are responding with an incomplete understanding of the facts.
One poster, in what I assume was intended as mockery of my posts, labelled as good news an article dealing with rioting and deaths. Interestingly enough, I have not read any attacks on that post.
An interesting thing, is it not? Almost as if there are two sets of standards as to what provokes comments.

(33,982 posts)I have repeatedly pointed out the true nature of your posts, and you persist, so diluting your agenda using the same tools seems wholly appropriate.

Nice attempt at defending the double standard that is quite evident.
