Satanist Billboard in Texas: "Our Religion Doesn't Believe in Hitting Children"

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2017/10/26/satanist-billboard-in-texas-our-religion-doesnt-believe-in-hitting-children/

The Satanic Temple just put up a billboard in Three Rivers, Texas to fight the scourge of corporal punishment. It reads, “Our religion doesn’t believe in hitting children.”

Why Three Rivers? The public school district in that city voted over the summer to allow paddling as a form of punishment against children. Temple spokesperson Lucien Greaves says the school board members who thought that was an acceptable form of punishment need to be replaced.

“Hopefully, our billboard will give pause to passersby who will be forced to confront the fact that the school district is being operated by depraved and ignorant sadists who have no business being in education,” Greaves said. “The billboard should be a wakeup call that the school district trustees, who voted 6 – 0 for corporal punishment, need to be replaced by competent and humane members of the community who have children’s best interests at heart.”

...The same group put up another billboard in Texas earlier this year that said “Never be hit in school again. Exercise your religious rights.”

It wasn't a surprise when the school board adopted the corporal punishment policy. Apparently the "brilliant" people in Three Rivers think that "ass-whipping" is a good thing and will make the children become mentally tough. Personally, I think that it makes the children grow up to be over-reactive bullies destined to disrespectful to anybody who they can intimidate.

And when they are brought up make endless excuses until they are forgotten again.

in Mexico. When I was a child (60's - 70's) I went to a Catholic school in California where corporal punishment was allowed, but unusual. However, the threat of corporal punishment was always in the air.

For some reason I always assumed that if you could hit kids occasionally in the US, that they must be thrashing the kids down in Mexico pretty regularly. One day, as an adult, I asked my aunt if they had finally abolished corporal punishment in the schools. She was shocked at the thought of striking a student! She said it was absolutely against the law to lay a hand on a child, and had been her entire career!

and on it were the words, "Board of Education" and it was a joke that he had in his room for 30 years until he retired and gave it to me. The first day I had it in my room I was told to remove it by a newish principal who had been harassing me all year since I was the union rep.

Lately when I think about what an evil, obnoxious person the moron was in school (and his whole life) I picture that paddle and think how it should have been used on him...he is a bad seed through and through.

It seems that satanists do not strike their children as it is against their religion, as opposed to the religious faiths of the people saying it's ok to smack children with objects.
Someone hits my kid, they will be charged with assault on a minor, bullshit law or not. That's if I don't end up arrested for assault myself

This is a christian nation, don't ya know. That's why the one billboard didn't make it 24 hours without being vandalized. Had it coming, of course.

Especially since they seem to have a better sense of morality than the others that voted to beat children.
