Stephen Hawking, Cosmologist, Has Died

His concepts about the origins of the universe and much, much more have informed, delighted, and inspired many. A lifelong atheist, he has now returned his elements to the universe he loved and studied. An amazing life, in so many ways!

I heard it first on my clock radio, which wakes me up to the CBS radio news brief every morning.

His scientific accomplishments and perseverance through his condition represent the best of humanity. I’m sure that I’m far from alone in mourning his death.

A far-right legislator in Texas is under fire for trolling renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, who died at the age of 76 on Tuesday.

“Stephen Hawking now knows the truth about how the universe was actually made,” Rep. Briscoe Cain tweeted.

“While many see him as one of the greatest public intellectuals of the last century, and no one disputes that he was brilliant, the fact remains that God exists,” Rep. Cain claimed. “My tweet was to show the gravity of the Gospel and what happens when we die, namely, that we all will one day meet the Creator of the universe face to face.”

from his fantasy that Professor Hawking is now in hell, being tortured for eternity.

Rep. Cain's church is the Greater Harvest Community Church in Pasadena. Here is a link to the church's website page describing their beliefs: http://greaterharvest.cc/our-beliefs/
