Waiting on the road together

Sharing a message from a friend.

SOME THINGS are worth the wait, or hassle.. They've got to be....

It is the most Human thing to learn in retrospect. Yet maybe there’s something worth holding on to, here, because there will always be bridges in life, apparent obstacles to our short-term goals that seem perhaps random, intended only to frustrate, and add to our burdens.

AND HERE is where it's important to remember that life is hard these days, real hard, for me, and you, and for all kinds of others facing challenges we cannot even imagine. If you have trembled alone in the night, felt the chill of an invisible fog rolling in from "out of nowhere" that frightens you because it's nothing like you have ever experienced, and you find yourself unable or put even a dent in with all of your understanding, then I just want you to know that you are not alone. You are not "making this stuff up," nor are you being overly dramatic.

It will pass. In the meantime, know that it is not "yours," strictly speaking, and you are serving others unknown to you, by helping them shoulder burdens intolerable to them....

Such is my faith, shared not from above, or elsewhere,
as a preacher,
but rather just another like you, making progress, stumbling sometimes, intimate with both victory and crushing despair,
but still...
on the road....

This may be all we'll ever know of Heaven or Hell. Maybe not.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
