I got teary-eyed listening to the Bishop's homily.
Moving! Beautiful!
The new couple is radiant. The bride is simply adorned/gowned and quite lovely.

(16,104 posts)The fairy tale wedding years ago, the births of the princes, the falling out, the tragic death, the boys grown to men and their own marriages.
But the infusion of American-flavored religiosity at its best was stunning.
And tossing in Teilhard de Chardin? Drop the mic!!!

(970 posts)I find that 1) sometimes very vain people marry someone who looks strikingly like themselves. And 2) if they have one obvious deformity? They marry someone with the very same deformity; to forestall criticism, and get empathetic acceptance, on their own bad feature.
So what spirit is behind this one? Even the Bible warned about "false spirits" posing as holy ones. In this case a very vain Prince and a model, are so insecure, that they can only tolerate their own deformity. .. if their partner has the very same one.
So De Chardin got it backward: a physical feature created the spirit.
Chardin also by the way, was a bad scientist who wrongly embraced an old skeleton hoax (Piltdown Man?).
Best of luck to the happy couple. But?
