What do you think of this?

This was supposed to be a “Point-Counterpoint” bit in the school newspaper. The topic was the fitness of homosexuals to adopt.

The bone-headed Christian child quoted Jesus, though the quote was from Leviticus, as saying “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both have committed a detestable act: they shall surely be put to death.”

Also—“ If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

OK—this was a school newspaper. I love the idea of free speech and all that. But is this not hate speech? Is this not advocating for the righteous deaths of homosexuals? What the hell was this teacher thinking—allowing this”

And, yes, there is an English teacher that runs the school newspaper.

There is a bit of kerfuffle in this district because of this, and I bet this will soon be linkable news soon—I just heard about it now from an insider.

I have the complete article but I do not want to break any rules.

Is this a high school newspaper? College? What part of the country? Deep South Bible Belt?

Do you get to provide the counter-point, or does another student?

What is your relation to all this?

We need details.

There was a counterpoint provided by another student, but it focused only on the need for more adoptions and did not go into the morality of homosexuality. People are upset and so is the principal.

One thing that I learned from the link above is that Leviticus actually only pertains to non-Christians (and if I remember -- the article is long) it was a holiness code for priests.

I suggest reading the above link from a gay, biblical scholar. It's obviously slanted but it gives one something to think about and a platform to debate from.
