Today is the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to an abortion during at least the first three months of pregnancy.
A Pew Research Center poll conducted this month shows continued religious differences on whether the ruling should be overturned.
Overall, Americans oppose overturning the ruling 63 to 29 percent, the survey found.
But white evangelical Protestants support overturning Roe vs. Wade by a 54 to 42 percent margin.

(19,705 posts)9. Perhaps her point is that a majority of religionists condone execution.
Which they do.

or just US?

(237 posts)3. Would this not be an excellent example of ...
how religious beliefs are used to justify and rationalize a number of viewpoints with virtually no facts nor evidence to add to the discussion?
Just asking. How does religion help human folks resolve questions of morality and ethics, if such vastly differing viewpoints still show us that people tie their opinions to their religious beliefs?
cbayer
(146,218 posts)4. Huh? I think your post is an excellent example of why it is faulty
to equate various religious beliefs or interpretations of religious teachings.
DryRain
(237 posts)5. You just started a thread about corellations between
religious beliefs and opionions on the ethics of abortion.
Who is attempting to tie what to what?
cbayer
(146,218 posts)6. Yes. The article is about how different religious groups hold different opinions
on the issue of abortion.
DryRain
(237 posts)7. And I asked questions to gain more information about
those corellations.
Do you have any answers? Or would you prefer I not ask?
