that serves free martinis at lunch.

That, to me, is the height of reason.

2. Given that it is the National Day of Reason, I might be a smartass and ask why.

I wouldn't want to make a habit of it, but I might make an exception for the National Day of Reason.

Skäl, my friend. (Regretfully I don't have martini fixens right now.)

Enjoy your day.

But I have a very special family connection, and ours were bottomless.

The meal was spectacular, the martinis (well, cosmo in my case) were delicious and the whole experience memorable.

14. Nearly everyone imagines himself/herself as a reasonable person, and as much more reasonable

than nearly everyone else

So maybe we should expect that lecturing other people, about how unreasonable they all are, would be a popular activity

Yet the National Day of Reason and Apostasy only only attracted 9 participants in Cleveland last year

Perhaps attendance will grow, as more people become aware of the Cleveland group's complaint that organizers do not include atheists, when planning for the "National Day of Prayer"

But I'm not sure. Those, who share my own attitude towards the "National Day of Prayer," might respond to somebody handing out leaflets opposing the National Day of Prayer, simply by wondering why anybody of sound mind would be interested in the National Day of Prayer, or interested in opposing the National Day of Prayer

That could explain why in Danville, the National Day of Reason folk will not target the great unwashed masses (who might simply say, "Yeah? Well, who gives a fugg?&quot but will instead focus on distributing leaflets to National Day of Prayer folk, some of whom (we can hope) will splutter incoherently or may even fly into entertaining rages

15. I think

I think we should get rid of both the national day of reason and the national day of prayer and have the national day of respect. A day that we try to remember to respect ourselves and one another no matter our differences.

Naw, that does not play as well as these phony holidays that only serve to divide us.
