I grew up to marry a preachers daughter. Most of her family were ministers, mostly Baptist. After countless hours of theological discussions I found I was much better suited to the calling than most of them.

had the calling when he was in his early 20s. he also had a crush on my friend who took his virginity. he's now a bishop in charge of 40 churches -- married with 3 daughters.

interesting when he joined facebook he looked for my friend. i guess you never forget your first.

I've always wanted to be a teacher, counselor, healer, or helper in some fashion. I don't know how good I would be at it, either. I'm a very good listener and good friend. Maybe that is my calling.

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a nun, which was not very feasible since no one in my family was Catholic. My Baptist momma must have been very relieved when I decided I would rather be Annie Oakley!

I thought about being a Nun, which is odd because I was neither Catholic nor religious at that point.

I think I had a romanticized view of what a convent was, lots of quiet time and journal writing, and I was going through a very difficult time in my life. Looking back, I think I was drawn to the idea of a life of solitude and reflection and yar yar yar. There certainly was nothing drawing me to a lifetime of service to The Church, or Christ, or Religious duty. None of that ever entered into my mind.

Looking back now at the ripe old age of 37, I would have made a particularly poor nun, for a variety of reasons. It was never anything that I ever seriously considered, and they probably would have denied me entrance to the convent because of my unrepentant whoreing ways "Whaddya mean I can't keep my vibrator????"

you will find some that you might could have sneaked in as a crucifix. (one could try http://divine-interventions.com/religioustoys.php if they are not offended by such things)

Other than they exist I have no opinion on the subject

I couldn't think of a religion I fit into well, as my spiritual interests are too eclectic.

My wife went further than I, applied to and was accepted to Yale Divinity School, but decided against following that path.

I grew up in a Dominican parish and admired both Martin de Porres and the brother who was assigned to the church.

He left a good legacy.
