Minnesota Atheists
With atheism there is no hope, only despair.
At least thats what a billboard tells us on Stearns County Road 75 near Interstate Highway 94 in St. Joseph. Of course, a lot of billboards say things that arent true, and to be sure, this is one of those.
Its important to first point out that all people, regardless of religious beliefs or cultural affiliation, are susceptible to feelings of hopeless despair. If those feelings negatively affect a persons ability to successfully function in life, then it would likely be a good idea to seek help from mental health professionals.
Regarding atheism, many people have been empowered once they reach the atheist conclusion because it provides clearer thinking and triggers a more focused approach to life here in the corporeal world.

(1,259 posts)personally I suspect as a whole that atheists are happier and more adjusted in their lives than religionists.

The hope religion offered was always to depend on some daddy figure to maybe look down on you favorably or to die. Neither deemed like good options.

The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. The happiness of credulity is a cheap and dangerous quality of happiness, and by no means a necessity of life.
