Means Nothing, but (Psychic Experience)

I've been having a lot of them lately, some meaningful, some not so meaningful. I'm posting about the latter today because the experience itself intrigues me. If people are interested, I might post about a few others. LMK if you're curious about them. I don't want to monopolize thread space with stuff people don't care about.

Yesterday I took a break from working on my sheds (massive organization process) and met up with my psychic friend Angel that I wrote about on another thread. As per our usual, we met for lunch in this town with lots of charming dining places, boutiques, etc.

On my way over in my car I smelled something: It was the most wonderful aroma. It smelled like someone canning jelly in the kitchen.

At first I thought something might be wrong with my car. After all, some car smells could be sweet, like antifreeze, perhaps. Maybe my radiator was leaking and dripping on a hot pipe?

The smell persisted and was with me all the way to my destination. I enjoyed it very much. It made me happy in the way one feels comfort and "at home."

I had received a call a day before telling me that a cousin my age had passed away in an accident. I doubt this was related to him, though. We were not close and have not seen each other in 30 years. I did, however, invite him to speak through me to the family. I can't associate this incident with anything about him, though.

After lunch, Angel and I went shopping in some of the clothing boutiques. Angel bought a sweater vest for her upcoming trip to Ireland. At the same boutique, they had candles on sale and I was astonished to see a "dill" candle! Have you ever heard of a candle scented like dill?!

I loved the idea so I bought the candle and when I returned home, found my spouse and a lawyer friend of ours sitting at the DR table enjoying some wine and snacks. Since both have an interest in scents (the lawyer is in public planning and wants to construct a public "scent mall&quot , I took my candle out of the bag and removed the label. I asked them to sniff it and see if they could tell what the scent was.

Then we lit the candle and--it was the same smell as the one I'd experienced in the car!

So apparently I was experiencing my candle aroma before I even purchased it.

Any reason for that? Apparently not. Just a regular ole' sensory premonition, I guess.

I'm so glad you found a candle that makes you feel happy! Scent is a wondrous thing. I think the sensory perception has a direct link to the brain, no bypasses.

Cher . I think everyone really enjoys your psychic adventures. I look forward to them! I don't know anyone else who can tell stories like you do This group is dynamic, so you never know for sure who might enjoy them. And, I'm pretty sure we have unlimited real estate here. Post away!

Smells are amazing. They can stimulate so much. Not that long ago, I was standing in my back yard, near my van getting groceries from the back, and parked fairly close, was my deceased father-in-law's old truck we had inherited. Well, out of nowhere, no breeze, nothing, I get the distinct smell of horses. He loved horses. And I was almost certain he was riding one nearby. I just know he was there on or with a horse.

Although not really the same as your example, the smell factor plays heavily here.

quite awhile ago, I asked if anyone here was ever haunted by olfactory ghosts. I have one in my house. I think it is one of the old farm wives who lived in my remodeled farmhouse years ago. Sometimes I smell breakfast very clearly. I smell coffee brewing, sausage or bacon cooking. I can smell the hot griddle, and sometimes toast. I have smelled post roasts and baking pies and bread. It is very clear and obvious. Sometimes it is in the middle of the night. Sometimes in midmorning, or other non-meal times. It is not my cooking.

I do not live near anyone, so I am not smelling the neighbors' cooking. No neighbors are close enough. This often happens when the house is completely closed - no windows or doors open.

I know the lady who is the niece of the people who sold us the house. She showed me where the old woodburning stove was in the house. It was in what is now the downstairs bedroom. It makes perfect sense that I am picking up on these aromas.

I find it interesting that someone else is having experiences with aromas. I hope you enjoyed your experience. When it happens here, I enjoy mine.

I must have missed that, so I'm glad you posted about it. That is just fascinating!

They must have very fond memories of the meals they prepared and shared with their families. When you think about it, a lot of our happy memories are about food. I saw a chart about the moods of Americans the other day, and the mood spiked at lunch time and dinner time!

This hasn't happened here for awhile, but on occasion we would smell the cherry wood of a pipe that the former owner smoked.

Thanks for your comments about my experiences, ws. I will post another story about some neighbors moving. This one I would classify under "meaningful."

is the perfumey scent that belonged to her.

she gives me a lot of "signs" --and a lot of different ones, but her scent has been a big one. i get it when i walk past her room--not all the time and i haven't gotten it for about a month--and then today there it was.

there is no perfume in her room, no empty perfume bottles. sometimes i smell it when i'm in the living room. i think my daughter has only picked up on it a couple times. i wish my mom would give her granddaughter more signs that she's around. my daughter got several different signs from my mom but it has been awhile.

one time she gave me the smell of buttered popcorn when i was sitting in her chair in the living room. i used to make popcorn for her almost every night (and we'd listen to mike malloy together) but when i smelled it it had been over a year since my mom physically parted and over a year since there had been popcorn in the house.

another time was the horrible smell of nail polish remover--she and i both hated that smell--and my daughter smelled it that day too. it was a sign for my daughter and myself to "get the hell out of the house" and get going. my daughter is the only one who uses it and she hadn't used it for a couple weeks. as soon as she picked up on the smell, after i did, the smell was gone.

for starting this thread. I haven't had any scent psychic experiences, but aromas are so tried to memories, I can see how they can be.

off topic, what is LMK?

Let me know.

I don't want to post my stories if people aren't interested.

But people did LMK, so I'll be posting more.

I have a really good one coming up when I have a minute to write it up.

When I told my candle scent story to Angel, she wrote back, "I'm jealous!" That made me laugh, since she's the one who was a working psychic. Also, one time in the car she said, "I think you're better than me!"

My psychic stuff goes in phases though. I haven't had anything happen for a long time, and then a bunch of stuff took place. Can't figure that out, but that's the way it is.
