SAGINAW, MI Bishop Joseph Cistone of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw is one of 36 bishops calling for peaceful yet "serious" negotiations in regards to Syria's ongoing civil war.
Weeks after a chemical weapon attack killed approximately 1,400 Syrian citizens, according to U.S. officials, the United States and Russia have reportedly reached a deal with Syria to destroy any and all chemical weapons within the country.
Despite the potential resolution to the weapons issue, a civil war continues in Syria.
The Administrative Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, on which Cistone serves as a member, put out a statement asking for a quick yet peaceful resolution to conflict in Syria.
