Question for the Experts: Are Coptic Christians Considered Orthodox by your group?
I had some friends who moved to the USA from Egypt because of death threats years ago. They have a church north of where I live. They are the most loving and forgiving people I have ever met. They may be related to Greek Orthodox churches, as they have different holidays than typical RCC. They have a meatless fast around Christmas time.
I've known some Greek Orthodox, too, but there are none around here that I know of, but there were where I used to live. Both seem to respect secular authority and keep religion out of politics. I have been curious about the RCC and the Lutherans and the Episcopalians, but believe I am too old to learn their ways.
The kind of churches I once attended no longer seem to exist. Because I was brought up Protestant, and I don't recognize the ones around anymore. The churches I attended did not get into politics, but did support government being allowed to do its own work without them complaining.
I know nothing about your faith and don't understand what is important to you. It seems too complicated, that is why I guess it's for families and the youth to learn the customs.
Hope you don't mind me posting in the group, I never show disrespect to churches, but don't like what I've seen happen in Protestant ones that seem more concerned with the government than church.
