(Jewish Group) White Supremacy Can't Be Untangled From Anti-Semitism

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

In September 1983, a group of men gathered at a 60-acre farm in Metaline Falls, Washington, to swear an oath of fealty to . The group of mostly northwestern, working-class neo-Nazis ― who would come to be known as the Order or the Silent Brotherhood ― swore “to do whatever it is necessary to deliver our people from the Jew and bring total victory to the Aryan race.”

As historian Kathleen Belew writes in her 2018 book, , these men were committed to “protecting and propagating the white race.” After a string of armed robberies of banks and businesses that they considered degenerate, the group fixated on Jewish talk radio host Alan Berg. One of the members had clashed with Berg on air and later called him a “filthy Jew.” On June 18, 1984, members of the Order drove to Berg’s home in Denver and fired 13 bullets into Berg, killing him instantly. It was the group’s first ― and only ― assassination in pursuit of their goal of establishing a white separatist homeland in the United States.

To those unfamiliar with white supremacist ideology and rhetoric, it may seem surprising that such a group would choose a Jewish man as their first target. After all, the Order was most concerned with the purity of the white race, which is why its members abhorred interracial marriage and procreation. Yet according to the Order ― and to the white supremacist groups that have inherited its ideology ― Jews are the principal enemy of white supremacy.

Members of the Order embraced a conspiracy theory that the U.S. government was in thrall to a Jewish organization dubbed the Zionist Occupation Government. As Belew explains, they believed that ZOG sought to “admit immigrants … allow black men to rape white women, and encourage interracial marriages ― all this, they said, to destroy the white race.”

Part of the left believes that antisemitism from the left is worse than the right. They believe that Linda Sarsour, the Color of Purple author, and what’s happening with UK Labour and with Jews “leaving France” is worse than Bannon and mainstream conservatives embracing white supremacy, violence, and the modern KKK.

Seems misguided to me

There are those of us on the left who refuse to ignore anti-Semitism from the left, unlike too many of our counterparts. Perhaps you are mistaking a refusal to ignore anti-Semitism from the left as a belief it is worse.

Yes, I know people who discount antisemitism on the right and focus on the left.

All antisemitism, left or right, must be confronted.
And we must realize there is a much much bigger threat of violence from the right than from the left.

Even if the right is more violent, and occasionally more virulent, ignoring or minimizing the effects of anti-Semitism on the left is also problematic. It is almost as if anytime anti-Semitism is brought up, some people like to shift focus to the right (I.e. it's more dangerous/common), that is, of course, when they aren't trying to make it about Israel or the latest misdeeds of some right-wing Jew (Adelson, Kushner, etc.)

So, as a Jew, what do you propose? You claim we should confront anti-Semitism on the right and the left, but does that "confrontation" of the left always have to come with a caveat of "but it's worse on the right"? Do you have standards on the "right way" to confront anti-Semitism on the left?

As a Jew, I am VERY scared about fox and Limbaugh and Breitbart radicalizing young white men who draw Nazi symbols on schools and march in Charlottesville, while Fox and Limbaugh blame anti Semitism on the left.

Before Trump, we had to worry a lot less about synagogues getting shot up than we do today.

As I said: stop antisemitism on the left, but be clear eyed that by far the biggest threat is on the right.

Sounds somewhat productive. I, too, see it as important to address propaganda. When I do so, I attack any form of it. Doesn't matter to me if it is Farrakhan or Hagee. I don't care if it is Mallory or Duke. I see no difference between Atzmon or Sasour. Unlike the right (and others), I don't get distracted with "whataboutism" from the right or about the right. If the problem comes from the right, then that is side taken to task; same for my side.

Clear-eyes means not getting distracted with "whataboutism" or "the other side is worse". Either take a stand or don't; there is no middle.
