Paris 2019 Berlin 1938? Antisemitic tag 'Juden' on window of Bagelstein shop in Paris

The word ‘’Juden’’ (Jews in German) was tagged on the window of a franchise of “Bagelstein” in Paris, a reminiscence of anti-Semitic inscriptions targeting Jewish businesses during the so-called ”Night of Cristal” (”Kristallnacht”) in 1938 in Nazi Germany.

CRIF, the umbrella representative group of Jewish institutions in France, shared the picture on twitter. ‘’Indignation and anger after the discovery yesterday of a vile anti-Semitic tag on the shop window of a Bagelstein shop. An act that recalls the darkest hours of history,’’ the group wrote.

A member of the French Parliament for the ruling ‘’La République en Marche’’ party, Elise Fajgeles called the tag ‘’unbearable’’ and made the connection with the yellow vests anti-government protest movement which was marked by several antisemitic incidents.

he talked about the "yellow vests" riots and said:

They also seem unfriendly to Jews. Mr. Lévy tells me protesters have made an arm gesture called the quenelle, invented by a comedian named Dieudonné M’bala M’bala, that is widely understood to be anti-Semitic. They have also chanted the word “Rothschild, again and again, as an obsession.” No doubt that is a way of anathemizing Mr. Macron, who worked for Rothschild & Cie Banque a decade ago—but it is also part of the French left’s anti-Semitic argot. “French socialism, when it was born 130 years ago, had two wings,” Mr. Lévy says. One of them, led by Jules Guesde and known as the Intransigents, “was really anti-Semitic. There was this idea, in this half of the party, that the embodiment of capitalism was the Rothschild Bank, and Rothschild was a nickname for the Jews. And this tradition continues, still, today.”

It is only a matter of time before we see a "Kristallnacht" 2.0 in France, or the UK, though, I would guess Hungary and Italy might happen first. Thought, Germany might see it again, so might we. While it won't be an action of the government primarily, it will likely be "ignored" or explained away.
