(15,359 posts)I don't even really understand what they were trying to do by trying to make a myth out of it and convince people that it's real. Neat trick, but ultimately a waste of time for an institute of technology, and I'm glad they only got $900+ instead of the $12,000 they were wanting on Kickstarter.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Call me dense, but I don't get the point of faking a myth.
So the video demonstrations of the stairway were faked, too, and the "architectural trick" doesn't really exist? Is that the point? The videos looked real enough.

(15,359 posts)To help them perpetuate a myth that there was some "magical" hallway in R.I.T. I'm glad people found better projects to Kickstart. Science and technology should partly be used to lay myths to rest - not getting people believing in the impossible/non-existent.

In order to do that, though, an explanation of how the effect is so realistically achieved would need to be part of the presentation -- for people like me, who need stuff explained to them.

(2,830 posts)They say that the stairs are flat, but you can clearly see that people have to raise their feet to get to the next step...
