3D-printers can now make wigs.

If you use a glue-gun and you pull away, you produce those strands. That's basically how a 3D-printer produces fibers that look like hair-strands.

It's not an ordinary 3D-printer - he needs some hard- and software-upgrades - and of course the thickness depends on technical parameters like viscosity and how fast you pull. The researchers were able to produce strands as thick as those of a brush and as fine as hair.

The downside: Quantity.
A commercial 3D-printer can only produce tiny amounts of strands at a time (about enough for a small toothbrush) and a single error can mess up hours of work.

Inspired by putting hair on the horse's ass, they tried to do a Donald Trump wig but the machine couldn't do strands that long.
