The crows in my neighborhood sometimes stole small tools that were bright and shiny, but they dropped them when they discovered they were no good to eat. They never did learn to use them correctly.

Are you still not buying it? Then watch this crow use something it found as a sled to go sledding down a snow covered roof.

and could be completed in any order. I'm not saying the bird isn't smart but it really isn't a problem with one solution out of 8! or 40,320 possibilities, which the audio suggests. None of the steps, if attempted out of order precluded the successful completion of the overall task.

Not gonna argue with your take on the order of operations... That was not the purpose of me posting that video. You doubted that wild crows would use tools. I think both videos prove that the can and do use tools. There are other vids out there that show crows using cars to crack nuts and such, but you can look them up on YouTube if you want to see them.

I never have said that wild crows wouldn't use tools.

I merely pointed out that the claims of the complexity of an "8 step specific order" task are overstated.
