PATIENT CARE DEVICESSURGICAL AND SUPPLIES
By NS Medical Staff Writer 30 Jul 2021
Medtronic plc (NYSE:MDT), the global leader in medical technology, today announced the first gynecological (GYN) procedures with the Hugo robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) system. The six cases included hysterectomies and myomectomies performed by Salomón Zebede, M.D., and Juan Carlos López, M.D., last week at Pacifica Salud Hospital in Panama City, Panama.
As the cornerstone of our new robotic surgery program, the Hugo RAS system is playing a critical role in bringing the benefits of minimally invasive surgery to more patients in our region, said Dr. Zebede. It was energizing to perform the very first GYN procedure with the Hugo system, and encouraging to experience firsthand the possibility this technology brings to womens health.
Globally, more than 60% of hysterectomies are performed as open procedures,1 even though minimally invasive surgery offers fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, and faster return to normal activities.2-4
Pacifica Salud is the latest institution to join Medtronics Partners in Possibility Program, a group of pioneering hospitals that will be among the first in the world to use the Hugo RAS system. Earlier this month, the hospital announced its first five urological cases with the Hugo RAS system. Pacifica Salud is also an early adopter of Touch Surgery Enterprise, a cloud-based surgical video capture solution that allows surgeons to seamlessly record, analyze, and share surgical video.

Scared shitless.

(6,251 posts)2. I had my hysterectomy via robot back in 2013.
The worst part was that the doctor wouldn't release me from the hospital until I had a bowel movement - stupid opioids!
Seriously, I had four small incisions, about one inch each. My surgery had been delayed until afternoon, so I was groggy for all that day, but I was up and walking the next morning.
All will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well.

All will be well.
Thank you for your encouraging words.

(171,035 posts)4. I had one robotically
in February. Yes, all will be well. My advice is to take whatever meds pre-op suggests and, in my case, take some of the lymph node(s) to biopsy. I'm relieved all the things in me that are gone are no longer a concern for cancer.
Good luck, but you will be fine.
