I believe it will be insects that dominate Earth next perhaps growing to gargantuan size eventually.

I'm hoping that we don't go down that path, but one thing history has taught me is never underestimate peoples capability for the absurd.

There will be plenty of evolution to come, but its exact course is unpredictable. Some new additions to the present phyla, some new phyla. Parallel evolution may produce creatures that look like long-dead forms, but are not the same -- cf. ichthyosaurs, sharks, porpoises.
