But, from my rural home, it took a while to find famous modern role models besides Katherine Hepburn.

Something as clear cut as a scientific discovery would have been respected.

The first time I had a woman physician i thought to myself this is different and after a while forgot about it.

I got where I am by respecting the views and accomplishments of people around the world.

Boys are stupid.

As a white boy from an affluent community I was handed my science education on a silver platter.

One of my favorite university professors, the one who got me back into school after I'd been twice asked to take time-outs (the implied threat being permanent expulsion), was a huge fan of Fred Hoyle, "who vehemently rejected the suggestion of a big bang that seemed to imply a Creator." ( ref )
