Because Mercury could not be in such a photo as it is too close to the Sun. I also looked for the cresent shape Earth and Venus would have and that feature seemed to be missing. Lastly, the relative position of Earth should have been much higher in the sky given Mars current position in our night sky. Not sure of this one but Venus is currently a morning "star" so my thought is that it would also be visible from Mars in the morning.

....He is dang fond of that bridge but I may be able to talk him out of it, probably get that bridge for pretty cheap.
