IMHO, the criticisms of the church are a little more tolerated here now. Granted, there is still plenty of whine today, but I think some of the middle of the road people are willing to take a side against the institution. The supposed good works of the church aren't making up for their blatant offenses.

I've actually seen very little "anti-catholic bigotry" ever around DU. Just straightforward arguments against falacious religious beliefs and condemnation of the hierarchy for bigotry, misogyny & paedophilia cover-ups. All of which the good Catholics themselves should be outraged about.

It's like those moderate Muslims you always hear about. Why don't they clean up their religion themselves instead of reflexively playing the bigotry card?
