...and break your back trying to wiggle under a pole for eternity.

No, wait, sorry, the Church Infallible shit-canned Limbo, didn't it? About the same time it un-canonized all those superfluous saints and such.

So I guess the agnostics will go to some department of Purgatory. Some department on the lower floor, obviously. Probably Lawn & Garden.

Damn, this Sophisticated Theology is hard. Maybe we should check with Augustine or Aquinas. I think they're still officially Saints, too...

I was afraid I'd be stuck on a cloud with all those unpleasant Christians, scrubbing a harp for all eternity.

The Pope is God's representative on earth. If HE says something, it is as if it came from the mouth of God. So who is this spokesman and why should we listen to him????? Denying the word of God as related by The Pope sounds like an offense that will end him up in Hell.

And stop sending me into the Religion group. I almost got myself in trouble (again) over there. But I resisted the urge to post a comment.

Along with the millions of people who just couldn't believe in fairy tales.

I grew up at about 8 or 9.........didn't believe in any of them.

I like to be with people who did the same. Those that kept believing, they bore me, even tho they might drink some great wines and beers and sing or play some nice tunes.

who is standing by to make up for the Popes mistakes! It's reassuring. I'm also sure God appreciates that Vatican Representative who can make sure that God's message isn't fucked up by the holy C.

God's will would be so confusing if it weren't for a Vatican Representative.

Someone asked if I am an atheist, why do I care.

I responded:
When someone suggests I deserve an eternity of suffering, I think I have the right to be offended.
Taking it further, when national policy is based on the meandering musings of iron-age peasants, rather than 21st century scientific understanding of our world, everyone gets harmed. That's not just history, that is present and future.
I generally don't care what people believe. It begins to bother me when I am included. At that point, I get a say.
