What? That doesnt look anti-Christian? Well, tell that to the people who posted on a Google forum yesterday about how their holiday was being ignored by the Powers That Be:
Im sick of one of the most important Christian holidays being ignored while other religious holidays as well as homosexuality are celebrated as doodles on the Google Search bar. If Google has tried to prevent religious favoritism or tried to promote its political correctness, it has failed. On behalf of a vast portion of those who go on google Christians I advocate for Googles acknowledgement of Easter as a doodle.
It depresses me
I usually enjoy google doodles, and went to see what cute thing they put up today nothing.
Sure makes me feel like a 2nd class citizen to have my religion ignored while others are honored.

I, also, am shocked that they ignored Bunny Day.

(4,549 posts)Celebrating spring makes sense, especially after a hard winter. Spring weather, candy, eggs, and bunnies. What's not to like?

(18,219 posts)That is the creepiest Easter bunny I have ever seen. I think that kid is holding it together really well.

(4,549 posts)I'm surprised we've gotten through an Easter season without these being posted.

(18,219 posts)Well, most of them aren't funny, just creepy.
Since these all come from the time when I was a kid, I am amazed that I am not afraid of Easter bunnies! And people think clowns are scary!

(49,533 posts)that points out the parallels between figures in other religions and the Christian resurrection story, well that is just a despicable attack on Christians on their holiest day!
Sad that some liberal Christians aren't that far removed from the right-wing nutters when it comes to über-sensitivity about their religion. You can sense the very same frustration from both groups that they don't have the power to burn us at the stake anymore.

(5,349 posts)I think some of them have a lot more in common* with right-wing fundagelicals than they think they do and certainly a lot more than they'd ever admit to. There are knee-jerk reactionary religionists on both sides of the political divide who go out of their way to defend religion at all costs, no matter how minor (or major, in the case of numerous RCC pedophilia scandals) the criticisms might be.
*Remember the heads exploding last year when some atheists on DU said, "Hey, all the religion at President Obama's inauguration makes some of us a little uncomfortable"? Some of the posts that showed up in response wouldn't have been out of place on a Republican message board. Most of them boiled down to "Shut up, stupid atheists! It's tradition! And even if it wasn't, MAJORITY RULES!!1!!!11!"
