The Fundies will hate "Cosmos" this week too...

The first couple of minutes mentioned the Gilgamesh Epic and its story about a big flood and an ark.

(They stole our story!!! Our ark was first, everybody knows that. WAAAAH!)

Then NDT went into the origin of life.

("He used the word 'somehow.' SOMEHOW! See, the scientists know NOTHING! We know how life started. Man, rib, woman, apple, talking snake. NYA-NYA-NYA!&quot

Well, they're never going to like anything that conflicts in the slightest way with their Revealed Word.

They remind me of an old joke:

A Xian missionary goes to a remote island where there are only a few First-World people. Mostly engineers, all male who are building an airfield.

"Welcome," says the Project Manager to the missionary. "We are in a remote location and there's really NOTHING to do here. So on Friday nights we have a few beers and play some poker..."

"I neither drink alcohol nor gamble!"

"Oh. OK. Well, on Saturday night we have a dance and some of the local women usually come by..."

"I neither dance nor have social intercourse with strange women."

"I see. Well...do you prefer men?"

"CERTAINLY NOT!!!"

"Too bad. You're not going to like Sunday night very much, either."

Science is great until it turns into the dreaded and hated SCIENTISM!!! Whatever TF that is. Apparently any scientific discovery capable of annoying a religious believer.

Once in The Other Group, I remember one of us trying to compare the discoveries of science in the past 500 years with those of religion.

The believers in there IMMEDIATELY started in with their smug rote lectures about how evil scientists invented nuclear weapons. Science has eliminated fatal disease and increased our life spans? Who cares? NUKES!!! Bugga-Bugga!

Even for that bunch, it was a breathtaking piece of dishonesty and hypocrisy. And as I remember, the head cheerleaders were the usual tag team - The Mother Inferior and TorqueNada.
