It's really refreshing to see where DU as a whole actually stands.

39 rec's in one day, and positive comments from those who normally don't participate in the Other group.

When it comes to the growing trend of non-belief and making society more secular, reason is winning.

Huzzah! my fellow heathens. Have a great weekend! I love you all.

lds in the other forum, but man, post something about religion in General Discussion, and hang on to your ass.

We are downright pleasant compared.

I was actually kind of shocked last pope thread. It got ugly, a lot of people are just DONE with religion around here. They just don't post in Religion about it. But if it crosses their path, look out.

when people see a nice post asking for tolerance for all, then see the OP attacked. For the most part, DUers are decent folks and they hate to see a good person blasted for no reason.

Along with our own merry band of Usual Suspects. Who I would recognize individually, but I would forget somebody important.

As I've said in the past, your energy and persistence just amaze me.

And yes, it has been really great to see newcomers venture into a thread, go "WTF?" And wade in on the side of the non-believers.

Of course, it wasn't SUPPOSED to work out this way...

I could be wrong. I don't go into that forum anymore unless there is a link or someone is talking about a specific thread or poster.

I don't mean to be Debbie Downer here, but as a gay person just how tolerant am I supposed to be on DU? Another fluff PR piece to LBN about his Popeness having lunch in the cafeteria (earth shattering, I tell you) followed by the usual litany of Francislove. This man is an avowed bigot who continues to preach against the rights of women and LGBTs, rights that affect our very lives, but I'm just supposed to be polite and tolerant and not remind folks that each and every time they do this they might as well smack me in the face. Just turn the other cheek, perhaps?

If Francis was a racist rather than "just" a misogynist and homophobe such adulation would qualify for an automatic deletion. I know what message that sends to me - as long as homophobia can be excused as part of one's religious belief, let religious freedom ring!

Sorry... just not feeling so magnanimous right now, considering my rights as a woman and gay person are currently under unrelenting assault by religious conservatives.

I appreciate it and hope you'll be Debbie Downer any time you feel necessary.

One of the things I like most about DU is getting different perspectives. Being a fairly boring straight white geezer my own self.

And I think you just demonstrated how important it is to keep this a "safe space" for us to vent. As you know, in some places on DU speaking ill of His Blandness will get your post shitcanned immediately. And you along with it, if the complainers can stir enough crap.

Also, obviously none of what I just wrote is true. Since Certain Very Smart People have said we in the A/A group only hate the religious because we can no longer hate gays and racial minorities. So I will sign off and go pick up my robe and hood at the dry cleaners. I could be eligible for Grand Exalted Kleagle this year! If I can just make myself more mediocre, that is...

.... when I took an inseam measurement... as a hilarious joke.

When I pointed out to the ol' jokemeister that he just called me a lecherous faggot and his joke was homophobic, my response was reported and deleted of course. Not the post implying I grope my clientele, but my post calling him on it.

So there's a perfect example of the double standard.

But it's really not anything I get too upset over. I only point it out because of the gigantic hypocrisy.

I never report anything on here. Why? It's just a message board. And my skin has thickened considerably over the years. May I never act like a poor poor put upon Christian! Yikes!
