Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumHow has everyone's week been?
Mine's been pretty stress free. I just made a coconut cream pie from scratch. I can't wait for it to set. I'll eat it later with leftovers from last night.

If we tax churches, we'll have to tax all non-profits. You want to tax Planned Parenthood to make a point?

It's okay to cherry pick the bible. Literal Atheists are like Literal Evangelicals if you take everything in the bible literally

Went sightseeing in the wilderness which was boring but strangely satisfying.
(this is a joke, there are no wildernesses in England. But I'm sure you know what I mean)
Couple of Jehovah's Witnesses called round yesterday and while Ms Blur was getting rid of them (she's firm but more polite than me) one thrust a leaflet out and said, "But we've got a website!" and I said, "So have I but the difference is that people look at mine", which was satisfying.
(edited to add)
Actually I forgot my big news - my brother married his dog, my best friend married his bicycle and one of our boys has been getting very familiar with his X-Box controller. It's Atheist Paradise round here, which is what happens when you let them read The Guardian and watch Dawkins on TV.

(8,170 posts)I object to the racism implicit in the word "How,"
"Has" is imprecise
If you say "Your" you're excluding yourself unless it is an autocorrect error for "Yaw" implying there has been an event involving such rotation of which I'm unaware
"everyone's" - well, of course, the quality of the week is variable amongst so many
"week" - are you being geocentric?
Of course "been" could mean any week that your audience has experienced.

(9,356 posts)Because it makes me laugh a little every time I see it.
And brings back many happy memories. I was about to list a few. But that would probably get me an alert from the Junior Stasi, who look in here for stuff to be outraged about.

(17,505 posts)I learned that the balcony on the beachfront side of my house has NO FLASHING and water has been running down behind the siding since 1996! That's a big mess and quite an expense to correct.
And now the garbage disposal in the kitchen sink is not working and I have a house full of (hungry) guests!
Even tho' I am not homeless and without any food (but live in a beachfront house), mortars and rockets are not raining down on me, and I don't have a fatal incurable disease (that I know of), supply-side Jesus has obviously abandoned me!
Alack! Alack the day!
********** update *******
Now I read in the Science group that tonight the full moon is at it's closest perigee!!!! That means higher tides.... I'm sure to lose even MORE dune!
Why, supply side Jesus...why hast thou forsaken me??????

(18,219 posts)I have also had a very stress free week. I did absolutely nothing this weekend, and will continue with that. I should have mowed the lawn, and I should have cleaned the house, but screw that.....life is good right now.
Hope you enjoy that pie. I can't imagine making a cream pie from scratch.

(18,312 posts)It really is an easy recipe. I should know--my father was a custard pie. Try it!! It's delicious

(18,219 posts)Well, to be fair, I am not a fan of coconut so this is not tempting. I am also not a fan of any recipe that has more than three ingredients that I don't have in my house, or more than 5-6 ingredients. But I love lemon meringue pie and do wish that I had it in me to bother making one.
I am not a culinarian. My father was a culinarian.*
*Actually, I am lying. There were no culinarians in my household.

We make up the (mostly) mentally stable and rational wing of our family which puts us clearly in the minority.
It's been 30 years since we lived in the same state but we've always kept a lifeline open to each other for a general sanity check when dealing with the rest of the family.
