Sippy Cup goes on to say that conservatism is far more "intellectually honest and respectful" of atheism than liberalism is.

(9,356 posts)A few years ago, we were unlucky enough to have Ingraham plastered on billboards around the neighborhood. (Flogging her show on local right-wing AM radio.)
The billboard showed Ingraham in a black leather outfit with a SERIOUS look on her face. I guess they were trying to make her look hip, cool, edgy etc. etc.
But this was Laura Ingraham. She looked like your goofy old aunt, the one who tries to dress like Teh Kidz and be hip. And her serious expression looked more like she had gas pains.
At least I got a good laugh every time I drove past one of those billboards.

(111,174 posts)I don't know why they keep trying to be edgy, they're always at least 20 years behind the curve and 30 years too old to pull it off, at all. The kiddie sticker "tats" are the funniest part of the outfit, out of scale and looking more like he got into an argument with a rabid chihuahua.
I'm glad I missed the Ingraham effort.

(9,356 posts)That was for his album "In A Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy."
The Fundies really ripped him a new one over that look and the album. He had to apologize and promise to never do it again.
Christianity Today told the whole story, albeit with a lot of puffery about Boone. It reads as though it were approved - or maybe even written - by Boone's own PR flaks:
Boone's detractors were not necessarily reacting out of intolerance but out of genuine fear that they had lost yet more ground in the culture wars, that a cherished hero who had been faithful for so long had finally fallen victim to the lures of Babylon.
And Boone, although he put on a brave public face, was deeply wounded by the situation. Many of the letters he received were "downright vicious," he says, and having his TBN program taken off the air so abruptly suggested a lack of trust and loyalty on the part of the network, despite his years of unblemished service.

Awww. he got "downright vicious" letters from the faithful. And was surprised by that! Sorry Pat, but I don't think any atheist who has been on the receiving end of that good ol' Xian luv is going to have a lot of sympathy.

(6,452 posts)Her actual believing her own faitheist bullshit, or her pretending to be a Serious Atheist to get a paycheck. Either way, it makes her an extremely unattractive person, no matter how cute her glasses are. She's from the Ayn Rand school of "I got mine, so fuck ya'll" school of thought.
It's interesting to note that her sentiments are echoed by a lot of atheists right here on the good old DU.

(49,533 posts)Well I wouldn't say there are a LOT, just a vocal few who view it as their responsibility to chastise all the other atheists. Like Sippy Cupp! So much in common.
