So if I get this right? "God is calling?"

If it is a dupe let me know and I will delete, I tried
to search but i had to drive today and won't have a chance to check back until later- (will take down if it has already been discussed)

So basically if I am understanding this Mike Huckabee believes atheists should be fired from our jobs?

-snip

If Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s disparagement of atheists was just the ranting of a tinpot politician turned Fox News bloviator, it could be left without comment or fuss.

Unfortunately, not only does Huckabee have to be taken seriously as a possible Presidential candidate in 2016, but his suggestion that atheists who work for the government (primarily elected officials) be summarily “fired” is an applause line in too many quarters in the United States. That nonbelievers somehow deserve to be discriminated against is a view widely shared, particularly among Christian conservatives who seem to think “religion by the sword” is an oldie but a goodie.

A disappoingly small number of DU believers (and their defenders) seem to be able to accept that. After all, it goes completely against their personal experience living primarily with liberal and tolerant people.

And he's proposing something which is illegal and unconstitutional as I understand it?

Good start.

I might expect some of the militant Xtians to suggest firing atheists, but not Huckabee. Someone must have pissed the poor boy off.

He's also welcome to have as many millions of supporters he wants praying for his dumb ass too. Pray as hard as they want. Any venue he likes.

Marquess of Queensberry rules are fine.

Why bother with 11 three minute dances before hearing the bell 12 seconds into the twelfth? Or did you want Canvasback Mike to go down in the first in twelve different venues?

I'm fine either way. Watching him try to throw punches like Rocky Balboa did to win in Rocky (the first one) would hurt my sides by laughing!

He's old, but I've got a fraction of the experience he has, and that counts for a lot. (Though, he'd probably not prefer boxing, which means I get to choose a different martial art too...)

The Christians are being persecuted. They are not "allowed" to pray anywhere. Oh, so sad.

...as a "nice guy?" He's a moralizing asshat and I'd call him a weasel, but that would insult a perfectly nice mammal.

As Governor of Arkansas, this POS delayed sending aid to the victims of tornadoes. And why did he do that? Because a bill in the state house referred to tornadoes as "acts of God."

The Huckster took that as a personal insult to his Big Sky-Daddy. He refused to sign the bill until the Legislature took out "God" and changed the wording to "natural acts." While Huckabee nitpicked over language, his citizens suffered:

Just when you think that he may have some convictions (even if I don't agree with any of them) he does the old repuke pretzel knot to get past a primary.

revved up early and nothing like throwing atheist red meat at them.

It's actually a pretty safe topic for HIS supporters. That's why in the past they try to "out dumb" each of the other candidates in the primaries. As if trying to raise their hands the fastest and deny when the moderator asked if anyone believes in that pesky science and evolution...will give them an edge =)

All of a sudden The Huckster will be more liberal than Rachel Maddow. Atheists? Gays? Why no, I never bashed anybody! All citizens are just good Americans who should vote for me!

And as usual, the complicit, corporate, bought-and-paid-for mainstream media will be gushing over what a NICE GUY he is! Especially if his Dem opponent happens to be one of those pointy-headed intellectuals who make the mainstream media look stupid (and for damn good reasons - most of them are.) You know, like that forgotten smart fella who ran against Good Old Regular American Guy G.W. Bush back in 2000.

He has done a 180 in the past (he got off message at the primaries last time by saying a few nice things and he became irrelevant with that crowd) so this time he starts nasty first with a minority that would for the most part never vote for him.

I totally understand your pov!
