(5,043 posts)a mr gelliebean. (Although he is still an awesome person) I no longer have to share the remote
I am going to break out all my Python and Fawlty Towers (warty towels, lmao)....this weekend for a kick ass marathon. It was a shame Graham didn't live to see just how many generations he affected the world over.

(9,356 posts)Does "sign off from LA" mean "moving away from Los Angeles?" Or "Louisiana?"
You remind me I could use a Fawlty Towers marathon myself. Must have watched each episode 40 times each and they still make me laugh.
"...herds of wildebeests sweeping majestically across the plain..."
I also have all the Black Adder episodes, and the same thing applies. Never get tired of them.

(5,043 posts)He was part of the comedy troupe with French and Saunders and The Young Ones. I love British television. The only thing I watch is that kind of stuff and HBO. I just found out what a Kardashian was. I was so oblivious to the reality crap on TV here..lol
I love the episode where they try and hide the dead body. Manuel is my favorite character...Que? Lmao Basil talking under his breath "yes Sybil dear" That was the best show.
*sign off meant I finally caught up on my reading of bookmarked threads on DU and it was bedtime and I live in Los Angeles. And my dedication was for the morning crowd.

(9,356 posts)...about the Kartrashians, and you live here? (I live in LA too. Though probably not considered a true Angeleno since I live in the SF Valley.
I like a lot of British TV myself. Recently watched the mini-series "G.B.H," which co-starred Michael Palin...speaking of the Pythons. Plot revolved around British local politics in the 1970s. Interesting because I know nothing about the subject. The show never explains what "GBH" stands for, but probably "Grievous Bodily Harm."
If you want something more...grim but really good, check out the Red Riding Trilogy from 2009. Three-part mini-series with episodes set in 1974, 1980 and 1983. Fictionalized accounts of some real crimes going on in Yorkshire back then, like the Moors Murders and the Yorkshire Ripper.
Roger Ebert called it "an immersive experience" and I agree with him - best to make a barrel of popcorn, mainline soda intravenously, and watch the whole 5+ hour trilogy in one sitting.
