Jaclyn Glenn reads her hate mail.
EV-I-LUTION means we believe humans came from apes throwing poop at each other. Or something.
NSFW because language. Mostly from loving Xians, naturally...

(9,286 posts)I always though spell checkers were standard on most computers, but I guess her haters never learned to use one!

(13,485 posts)they just think those words really are spelled that way so they add them to the dictionary. They also may be using the en-ustupid library as their default language.

(9,003 posts)..and it's really strange that the supposed good Christians can write some of the most vile, vulgar, and hateful things.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation prints a monthly newsletter and each issue devotes about a page to "Sharing the Crank Mail." Full of misspellings and venom, you get a view of Christianity not many get to see.
The Crank Mail is about as disgusting as FFRF's "Black Collar Crime Blotter", another monthly feature of the newsletter that highlights priests, pastors, etc molesting, robbing, killing and otherwise fleecing their flocks. The number of offenders is eye-opening.
This coming weekend is the annual convention for FFRF, this time in Los Angeles. We were going to go for the first time until I had some rather hasty surgery a few weeks ago and I'm still recovering. Maybe next year (in Madison, Wisconsin) during our Retirement Tour.
A heartfelt bravo to Jaclyn Glenn!

(9,356 posts)Grrr. Can't believe I'm so oblivious. Thanks for mentioning it. Might try to drop in tomorrow, but I'm dealing with some maintenance issues in the townhouse complex where I live.
I heard Donald Johanson speak once at a Skeptic Society shindig. Just great. He talks about discovering "Lucy" and boy, does he slam Creationism! Lots of cartoons etc.
Though he might have been reacting to events at that particular shindig. The Skeptics Society used to have an occasional speaker named Richard Abanes. He styled himself "an Evangelical skeptic." You can probably guess where this is headed.
Abanes gave a presentation on doomsday cults, a subject in which he is an expert. Fascinating talk, until the very end...
...when he launched into a bizarre, off-topic rant against evolution. Said people who accepted Darwinism were the same as Fundie Xians like himself, only worshipped Darwin. All the usual crap we've heard so many times.
The audience started yelling back at him and it got pretty ugly. IIRC, the whole conference took a time-out for a while.
And Johanson was the next speaker. So he may have been responding to that BS, with his jabs at Cretinists.
Otherwise Johanson was the exact opposite of the Arrogant Atheist stereotype. Talked about how humbing it was to discover Lucy - this little creature who lived and died unknown until we figured out what she really represented.

(17,505 posts)What gets me is how these people grasp at fairytales to buck up their ego. Religion is SO egotistical. Selfish children who must feel special all the time, or have a tantrum.
