(19,288 posts)I tried to convert when I was young, waiting for a miraculous conversion experience, that never happened.
My dad became an atheist when my mom would not accept the church doctrine and join. He questioned his faith which was the first step to apostasy. He decided that if none of the book of Mormon was true then the same critical look should be given to the bible.
Gave me a unique perspective as a child.

(12,249 posts)by the South Park creators. I've never seen a funnier piece of theater and the entire audience must have agreed with me because we were all howling with laughter all the way through. You learn all you never cared about before about Mormonism and are treated to hilarious lyrics that give the entire history of Mormonism and what they believe: Jesus has his own planet, all good mormons get their own planet. God condemned black people until 1978 (coincidentally when the Mormon Church was about to lose it's tax exempt status for discriminating against them). It is, true to form, the most subversive musical ever. My favorite song was "Hass Adigga Eboywi" which means "F--k You God." That's the way I like my history! Funny as hell.
The link didn't work for me, BTW.

(1,951 posts)Yeah, the South Park guys are hit-or-miss, but Mr. 27 and I still sing that to each other when we come across some bit of uber-crazy Mormonism.
