Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumOK. I'm convinced. Hatred of atheists is HUGE.
So huge, in fact, they'll swallow their hate of friggin' Muslims for it.
Wow.

(9,356 posts)Quite an eye-opener, isn't it?
Judging by the past - and I've been at DU for about 927 years in Internet time - this will get a lot worse as the election draws closer.
On slow news days, the Faitheist/Accomodationist media hacks will hork up their "concern" over non-believers hurting the Democratic party in the election.
Or maybe an atheist will do something vile and horrendous, like insist on their civil rights under the Constitution.
This stuff will be posted in Religion, and hilarity will ensue as the believers tell us to just STFU and get back under the bus. At least until after the election, when we can worry about our rights again.
Speaking of the Religion group - sometimes the responses we DON'T get are as...interesting as the ones we do.

Under the bus is definitely the preferred place for teh gheys, infidels, and women, ESPECIALLY in an election year. Then, if Dems don't do well, it will be the sole fault of women, infidels, and gheys, and we'll be hounded with the "It doesn't matter in an election year!! Why couldn't you shut up until after the election?!?!? Oh. My. Gawd. it's all your fault!!" shrieking again. I'm already getting a sense of deja vu from elections past, and we have 9 months to go .

(5,335 posts)Apparently even something as benign as the Reason Rally is a bad idea since it's an election year:

And all us nonbelievers should just shut up lest we drive voters into the arms of the Resmuglican Party:

if a religious believer assaults a person wearing a costume that pokes fun at the religious person's beliefs, they're probably both guilty of harassment, so they "cancel each other out" and therefore it's right that the believer was let go. Sorry, but that 's one of the dumbest fucking things I've read on this board.
Edited to add: I wonder about the mental gymnastics that have to go on inside believers' heads in order to make it somehow "okay" that a person was assaulted for wearing a costume, or to at least convince themselves that the guy should've anticipated that he might be assaulted because of it, and he had it coming whether he expected it or not.

(7 posts)It's pretty horrible. Apparently Americans trust us about the same as rapists. Thinking freely puts us on the same level with criminals. How disgusting.
