Atheist videos are being removed from YouTube

And a new front opens in the war on atheists.

Thunderf00t points out that YouTube appears to be banning videos that are “religiously offensive”… which means atheist videos (his included) are being taken down in spades.

… I got four videos taken down in half an hour, and a ‘privacy notifications’ against a further two…

1. Why youtube why?

The youtube Moderators are TERRIBLE. They are just using bigoted views instead of looking at video content. ie The BEST emotional porn was taken because of title alone. The islam videos were not offensive and pure fact.

2. I typed "David Duke" into the search bar, and lots of his videos came up.

3. I guess this means that atheists

will have to find another place to post videos. There has to be other places.

We should all make sure that we keep pressure on YouTube, but I hope there are better places to post them. This stinks to "high heaven".

4. Looks like YT backed off

Straightened out for now anyway...

To be honest when I first got the take down notices, about 6 of them in an hour or so (4 content inappropriate with no chance of appeal, and two privacy complaints) I thought, ‘another harassing and minor annoyance in running the channel. A quick email to YT should sort it out.’

I was then simply stunned when youtube claimed these videos had been reviewed by professional and impartial moderators and were removed for either hate speech or privacy violation. The more so as some of these videos constituted some of the milder things I’ve said about religion. The bottom line was, if this really was the new bar for hate speech, not only would it in an instant render the Thunderf00t channel unviable, it would render virtually every rationalist channel unviable. Youtubes actions were simply unintelligible. Indeed if someone had told me these were youtube actions, I simply wouldn’t have believed them. But there were the words on the screen in black and white.

5. Good. For now.

There will continually be alerts on any atheist posts (look right here at DU for examples), and YT will have to face this all the time. Let's hope they stick with this new policy.
