Hahahaha! And the hits just keep coming!

At Sun May 13, 2012, 10:24 AM, an alert was sent on the following post:

I see now that I made a typo, and hit the "i" key instead of the "u".
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1218&pid=27073

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Telling a member that they have a deep rooted persecution complex, to shut the fuck up and calling them a petulant child is a personal attack.

The member has the option of putting the other member on ignore if he doesn't want mail from him. T

This kind of ugliness should not be allowed to stand here.

JURY RESULTS

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Sun May 13, 2012, 10:40 AM, and voted 4-2 to HIDE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: Agree, out of hand personal attacks between the posters.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: Both sides in this exchange need to grow up and stop using foul language.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given

On edit: I see now that the alerter stated that I told humblebum to "shut the fuck up". Actually, I said "grow the fuck up". Can one alert on the alert for lying?

It takes discipline, but putting them on ignore is the best idea if you can't demolish all their idiocy in one polite post and then get the hell out of Dodge, never to return to that thread again.

To my credit, I've only responded to one troll with a reply of (_|_) as he hit the pit.

And with most trolls, I do just that. But there are a few that just keep coming back, over and over, and they deserve every piece of shit that hits them in the face.

Sure, I could ignore them, but what would be the fun in that? This IS just an anonymous message board. Were these conversations taking place IRL, very few, if any, of the trolls would ever have the intestinal fortitude to spew that garbage to someones face. Most would be laughed out of the room, and a few, had they the guts to really say some of their hateful shit, would likely become very familiar with the principle of two objects being unable to occupy the same space at the same time.

There are certain posters that there's simply no profit getting into a prolonged exchange with, because they are too lunatic to be convinced of anything by reason or evidence, and would never admit it even if they could be convinced. Once you've made your point to the extent needed to convince any sensible people who may be reading which of you is the rational one, with evidence on their side, it's time to declare rounds over on the psych ward. As irritating as it is to leave them with the last passive-aggressive, content-free, intellect-free jibe, there's no use doing otherwise.

Keep poking them with that stick, Cleanhippie, but there is no need to aim for their eyes because they are already blind.

... though I've been asked to "jury", I got my first "alert", which sort of puzzled me. Mainly because I'm a woman, and I was so made at something as seen on television, so I referred to whoever it was by posting, "pussy..."

Funny, When I speak to my girlfriends who swear like I swear when we trash talk, we're always referring to some people, by using this term..

It didn't offend girl to girl, but forget about using that and certain other terms on DU... the jury HID my post...

So, off I went to the penalty box...feeling like that hockey player in "Slapshot"... "I feel shame".... boo too...
