Some of that coloration might be from the Western wildfire smoke?

The smoke isn't supposed to be bad in Maryland rught now, however, according to the updated map found here:
https://fire.airnow.gov/

On the other hand, that sunlight would be passing through smoke further west of Maryland.

Sky's mostly clear here; just caught a star/planet, above the 'smoke' line.
