Now Playing Clinton: Sanders voted for...

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign released an ad ahead of Tuesday night's State of the Union that aligns the 2016 candidate with President Barack Obama on guns and challenges Bernie Sanders to "pick a side" on the issue.

Titled "I'm With Him," Clinton's straight-to-camera ad continues her campaign's knock against Sanders' more conservative positions on guns.

"An average of 90 people are killed in this country every single day. It has to stop," Clinton says. "President Obama wants to make universal background checks the law of the land and he wants to make gun manufactures can finally be held accountable when their guns are used to kill our children."

"It is time to pick a side," Clinton says in a not-so-subtle dig at Sanders. "Either we stand with the gun lobby or we join the President and stand up to them. I am with him. Please join us."

The ad will run online around Obama's final state of the Union and will start to run on national cable in Iowa and New Hampshire on Wednesday, according to aides. The online ad will include a petition to support Obama and Clinton's call for gun reform.

running in this election. This race is between HRC and Bernie. HRC supporters need to brush it off like PBO supporters did it in 2008. That was my point.

HRC learned some hard lessons and I love how she's used them to motivate and engage the Obama Coalition.

HRC hasn't come for Bernie yet but she will. Right now, she's being REAL NICE.

example of the easily duped and manipulated that I've seen in a long time. I think Reagan was probably the best at it. He won the WH with the most states and no one noticed he was mentally ill and in the early stages of Alzheimer's.

http://www.politicususa.com/2016/01/05/bernie-sanders-vows-continue-obamas-executive-orders-guns-elected-president.html

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders went beyond supporting President Obama executive actions on gun violence. Sanders is promising that if elected president he will continue Obama’s executive orders.

In a statement Sen. Sanders (I-VT) said, “It’s become clear that no mass shooting, no matter how big or bloody, will inspire Republicans to put children and innocent Americans over the interests of the NRA. They are simply more loyal to gun lobbyists than our children. That’s why I support President Obama’s executive actions to make our communities safer. A vast majority of the American people, including responsible gun owners who are sickened by the deaths of so many innocent people, agree with the common sense reforms announced today. As president, I will continue these executive orders because it’s past time to end the moral outrage of Aurora, and Newtown and Charleston.”

bullshit.
I *heartily* agree with DFA's statement from today. Here is the first part of it (the remainder deals with the HRC's lies about Bernie's stance on healthcare):

"While there is room for candidates in the 2016 race to draw contrasts on the issues, the bald-faced lies about Bernie Sanders's strong record against gun violence and the right-wing attacks on his support for single-payer health care coming from the Clinton campaign have no place in a Democratic primary.

"So, let's get a couple of things straight:

"Anyone who has listened to a single word that Bernie Sanders has said over the last 30+ years or seen the lifetime 'D-' rating he's earned from the NRA knows that any suggestion that he's a 'reliable vote' for some industry lobby simply doesn't pass the laugh test. I know things get heated in a primary campaign, but, honestly, talk like that is so absurdly false it's almost funny.

It's an important issue but not that important to everyday life in America.

When I wake up in the morning, I worry about keeping my job, having health insurance, and being able to afford college for my kids. I really dont worry whether my next door neighbor has a gun or not.

Sanders: ‘I absolutely agree’ with Obama on guns

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is doubling down on his support for President Obama's executive actions to strengthen gun background checks in the face of mounting attacks from his chief Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton.

In a speech Saturday, Sanders set out to “set the record straight” on a stance that he said has become distorted.

I absolutely agree with what the president is trying to do with his executive order,” Sanders said to a cheers at a Democratic candidate forum. Clinton was not in attendance.

I know I’m being attacked as being a stooge for the NRA. Well, some stooge, I have a D-minus lifetime voting record,” he said.
