Many feel they seldom get their way, and often get the opposite of what they believe in.

Maybe "lifelong Democrats" such as yourself might want to listen and open up more, instead of continually circling the wagons against change.

Bernie is talking about a lot of stuff that will never happen. His Medicare is DOA and he knows it but he is the pied piper who says everything people want to hear.

Do you ever ask yourself how he is going to get it accomplished? -

why was it the coordinated strategy for democratic candidates to distance themselves from Obama 2 yrs ago, but all of sudden it's not. could it be that the DNC HRC and DWS wanted to throw an election to try to scare people into voting for HRC?

he still screwed the pooch by offering up cuts to SS and not prosecuting any of the perpetrators responsible for our near total economic collapse

or allowing wall st banks to take our bail out money and still pay billions in bonuses.

or to after all of the above to allow these institutions that bet against american families to gain more power and become more influential

i would have loved to see Obama get challenged from the left in 2012 given these facts, just as i'm glad Bernie decided he wasn't goint to let Hillary take the nomination in a walk

Nate and Harry Eaton comment on the need to appeal to the base http://fivethirtyeight.com/live-blog/nbc-democratic-debate-presidential-election-2016/

HARRY ENTEN 10:31 PM
Not really. What I do see, though, is Clinton clearly knows where her base is. She knows she needs black voters in her corner. That’s why she is wrapping herself in the Obama cloth. A lot of people think the Democratic base is exclusively white liberals; it’s not. It’s black Democrats. Unless Sanders can gain support among that group, this primary is over.

NATE SILVER 10:35 PM
More seriously — I agree with Harry that the candidates have been speaking mostly to their respective bases on the substance. So I’m wondering whether Sanders’s feistier demeanor tonight will play positively or negatively with the home audience.

Sanders will not be the nominee unless he expands his base and I do not think that Sanders did this. Attacking President Obama is not a good way to appeal to African American voters
