2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere is a secret to being a supporter of Bernie Sanders
"There is a secret to being a supporter of Bernie Sanders. It is something that totally escapes the thinking of most Democrats and Republicans. It is the mental understanding that Sanders is fighting a war that most people are not. It is the war between corporations and the people. Unless you are fighting this war as well, you cannot possibly understand how important it is to vote for Bernie over Hillary. This is not about Hillary or Bernie, it is about fighting your real enemies, the multi-national corporations who are trying to control this nation and the world. You ignore this war at your own peril." - Randolph Greer

(13,091 posts)I'm voting for who will best represent the needs and wants I have.
I'm voting for my fellow citizens welfare.
I'm voting for the good of this country.
I'm voting for the good of the planet.
I am voting for Bernie.
A man of principles and vision.
A fighter.
An honest humble man.
That is who I am voting for.
If you didn't watch Killer Mike, Dr. Cornel West, Nina Turner and Bernie Sanders on their
MLK panel you really should. They envision the America I want to live in.

(23 posts)Many capitalists are unconcerned with law, morality, or ethics. Some capitalists are even willing to kill capitalism for a profit.
I'm talking about the "to big to fail banks".
By breaking those banks up, President Sanders will be saving capitalism from the capitalists.
Here's an important concept: borrowing money cost's money. Why then do both Democrats and Republicans borrow so much money - money they can't pay back? Could it be the revolving door between corporations and the three branches of government? Or the unlimited campaign contributions? Or the media consolidation ?
If these things were to change, it would be because a President was elected with a mandate to do them.

we're not voting *for* something--not "free college," not "good coverage," but to defeat the smug "siddown and shaddap" political class that's blocked us from fighting for that, that prevents us from doing politics ourselves and demands we only petition through them and maybe we'll get a compromise solution

(8,175 posts)This movement is not about Bernie and he's the first to admit it. It is about bringing democracy back to our country, and taking it back from the Oligarchs. Hillary supporters think we worship Bernie or something, and that's why we want him to win and not her. Not true. We want our country to win, not Bernie. We want our country back. He's just the only one out there who is willing to stand up to the fight and lead us.
We don't hate Hillary (well, most of us don't), we just can't stand what she stands for. We've had enough.

It is also what enrages HRC supporters: It's talking about issues they want to bury. Fuck them.

(8,175 posts)but then they said this:
it is about fighting your real enemies, the multi-national corporations who are trying to control this nation and the world.
And I'd add that it's not just corporations, it's also the rigged system that has become dependent on money from the wealthy (be they corporations or whatever) instead of responding to the needs of the working people. It's our whole system, taxes, laws, structure of government now, everything.

(45,251 posts)It's big business, it's rich individuals, it's people with power (who often are rich people). It's all oligarchs, those who power and/or money. I prefer plutocrats, because of the Citicorp memos, but Bernie uses oligarchs, so I'll go with that.

(50,983 posts)Well, what Randolph said is the fucking truth.
The corporations are writing the laws at our expense. And they are keeping us in perpetual turmoil to prevent anyone from correcting this "condition".
What's wrong in Flint Michigan? NAFTA caused the jobs to go bye bye. This is disaster capitalism. We don't need even worse in the TPP. We had better elect Bernie.
