2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy I support Bernie Sanders
There's been a lot of discussion about what can't be done or who has the most chances of getting anything past the Republican nutballs in congress, but that is secondary to what I see as most important about Sander's campaign. I'm not concerned, in the short run, about him getting everything he's looking for done. What I am concerned about, is what he harps on all the time. That harping is necessary to understand the why behind all the "we can't" statements.
I see his campaign as something more than any single policy or plan that can be released. I see it as more of a shift in priorities for our politics as a whole. A shift away from imperialism, war as a first resort, and protect business at all costs and towards people first. The only way to make that shift is to remove money from politics, which at its core, is what Sanders campaign is all about and why he talks about it all the time. You think he doesn't know what opposition he'll face? I don't think Sanders is the one naive about that. He just knows what the first step is...
...removing the ability of a few to control the politicians for us all.
In short, I trust Sanders to keep me informed about what's going on behind the closed doors of Washington DC. I also trust him to go to bat for legislation that has people's interest first over corporate interests.
