Middle-class Joe' Biden Tells Davos Bosses to Look After Workers
DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan 20 (Reuters) U.S. Vice President Joe Biden criticized modern corporate short-termism on Wednesday and urged chief executives gathered in Davos to look after their workers as well as their shareholders.
Relishing his nickname of middle-class Joe, he told delegates at the World Economic Forum annual meeting that the middle classes, the backbone of economies and democracies, now faced unprecedented threats from technological change.
He's like Clinton telling them to cut that out.
If they foist Biden on us, say hello to President Trump.

(3,343 posts)Bidens net worth ranges from $39,000 to $800,000, ABC News reported. According to Celebrity Net Worth, hes worth $600,00, and TheRichest.com puts his net worth at a similar range of about $500,000. Just as a comparison, President Barack Obamas net worth has been estimated to be between $3 million and $8 million, ABC News reported.
Hillary Clintons net worth is $31.3 million. Our Hillary Clinton net worth number comes from analyzing her 2015 U.S. Public Financial Disclosure Reports. Bill Clinton has an estimated net worth of $80 million. That gives a combined Bill and Hillary Clinton net worth of $111 million dollars.

(12,685 posts)They really think people are stupid. Obviously Biden LOVES power.
Politician in America except a handful has been for globalisation since the 1970s.
It's obviously a complex issue and one that has screwed over the working class immeasurably... But it's also pretty inevitable.
There's literally no strata of the US political class that's anti-globalisation; singling one random politician out is pretty disingenuous. IMO.
And.
Think of the last politician that got as far as he did and didn't trade it in for millions and millions. There very few. Think of the last vice president that didn't run for president. Also pretty rare..
I MUCH prefer Sanders to Biden, but much prefer Biden to many others. Including Hillary.

Using emotional appeals to try to get people to overlook the selling out of the American worker. Well - good luck with that.

(3,343 posts)Globalisation not the TPP.
You'd hardly find someone more quick to blame corruption on corporations than me. But. TPP is just the most recent example of decades of trade policy that's all pretty much been trending one way.
And now, those jobs and wages won't be coming back.
Our economy has radically changed. And frankly it's only going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets any better.
I'm not some huge Biden fan. I rarely think about the guy and don't think he'd make a great president. But. Look at everyone else running. Clinton has a lobbyist for Saudi Arabia and Weapons Manufacturers as her campaign chairman. Ted Cruz has the ex head of the CIA as his campaign manager. And gets funded by Goldman Sachs. Trump is Trump.
Of all of the other people Biden is much less offensive to me.
You don't have to agree with me, but you're highly unlikely to change my mind.

(12,685 posts)I think "Globalization is complex" is used to justify selling out. Globalization has not been good for the people or the planet. But looking down the road when this was pushed, a lot of people could see where it was headed.
We are letting world-wide corporations take the place of governments. Instead of learning from our mistakes we'll just enter into a bad trade agreement on steroids? That makes NO sense unless you are just willing to sell out and go along.
We'll pass something and make the American people believe they've finally made progress only to later realize they were sold out in a trade agreement or the bill passed was the opposite of what it was titled. What a system to be proud of.

(6,145 posts)As a political figure anyway. He's a decent guy but having him step in for a crippled Hillary isn't going to cut it.
This is Bernie's year.
