(36,649 posts)But then, it's a typical, boring, campaign ad. Could be put out by anybody, for any office.
It's just, if it had a "Hillary for President" label at the end, the Berniestas would be whining about how phony it was, and how much of a Republican it made her look like - but will deny up & down that it makes the Dear Leader look nothing of the sort.

You don't know the song that is playing then. You don't realize what Sanders is standing for. And you don't realize that he is in this for all of us, while Clinton is in this just so she can be president.
Clinton is worst than Reagan. She is like Nixon.

(36,649 posts)For Bernie's Revolution to happen, it requires revolutionaries.
And that doesn't mean people waking up in the fall and thinking their one vote one year later for one guy will change things. It means working year after year, decade after decade. It means getting like-minded people elected to office. It means mayors, it means city councilmen, it means county & state legislators, it means governors, House members and Senators.
These are the kind of people Bernie has repeatedly refused to help. And he's conning his supporters into believing that the "revolution" will be accomplished with a one-man band. The one man being Bernie.
The crashing disappointment they'll feel when they realized they've been mercilessly scammed will harm the progressive cause for decades to come.
Which is exactly what the GOP is hoping for.
OTOH, the much-maligned "establishment Democrats" have been there for decades, working to create the very revolution Berniestas seem to have just discovered.

What "revolution" have the establishment Dems done that has improved the lives of the average person since Carter?
It seems that if you were right there would be no real passion behind Bernie's campaign, but its Hillary that has the campaign that has no passion in the message she's delivering.
Bernie is running because the establishment politicians (a conservative is a conservative with conservative policies regardless of party) are incapable of changing directions as long as they insist on playing the game like everyone else, by selling access and favors for campaign donations.

One more reason not to watch the ad (I really prefer to just read the candidate's words and avoid a lot of the noise, including things like ads and basically anything in GD: P, ha) because of the whole heartstrings thing but I find it very interesting that his campaign chose that song in an ad.
And now I'll drown the melancholy which that song taps into with an adult beverage.

(12,761 posts)This appears to me to be an Iowa ad aimed at Iowans and featuring Iowans in advance of the Iowa primary. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the percentage of African Americans in the ad may actually be representative of Iowa...?
To artificially load the ad with extra POCs like it was NYC or Detroit or St. Louis -- to portray equal amounts of diversity -- would be disingenuous and a bit odd when you're trying to reflect Iowa, which as I understand is quite predominantly white. Also, doing such would likely bring forth cries from non-Bernie supporters that his campaign was exploiting persons of color for political gain!
